Welcome! My name is Dominique Blanchard Newsome, LMT. I am the owner and operator. I organize and structure the activities at the Clinic. I am very proud of the team we have formed here. We all play a special role in the development of the clinic. I am also a massage therapist. I graduated from Blue Cliff College in Lafayette in 2003 with 600 hours of massage training. I was certified nationally in 2004 and licensed by the stateof Louisiana in 2005. I have intensive training in Cranial-Sacral Therapy (CST) through the Upledger Institute. Check their website for extensive details http://www.upledger.com/. I specialize in pain management and injury and rehablition. I use an orthopedic approach to massage therapy. I utilize Neuromuscular trigger point therapy, deep frictioning, ironing compression and muscle lengthening combined with the gentle tuning of myofascial re-education and CST to achieve optimal results. When the situation calls for it, I find it usful to to an assesment using ROM testing. During therapy I use a firm touch, but only while listening to the muscles and tuning into the clients nervous system for verification of the depth and pressure. It is my belief that a massage treatment is not supposed to hurt, well, maybe “hurt so good," but anything beyond that is defeating the purpose. I listen close, unafraid to pause - test the muscle - wait for the pulse - feel the response and then the release, to confirm the re-education. This helps the receiver to remain more relaxed while integrating the proper approach for optimal results. Don't think I won't send you home with "homework" to increase your awareness to help prevent future re-occurance of an issue. LA# 3386
My name is Gerturde Hadley. I have been with AHA Massage Clinic since before opening day. I am the event coordinator for the clinic. I studied 600 hours with Blue Cliff College in Houma, Louisiana. In 2007 I was licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy and certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I also have been employed through home care for many years and have had lots of experience working with the mentally and physically challenged. I like the challenge and emotional benefits caring for others brings me. My goal as a massage therapist is to provide the best quality service with a caring nature and a understanding demeanor. I became a therapist because I believe in the principle of healing through touch. Massage is known to have a range of physical, mental and emotional benefits, from calming the nervous system to reducing your heart rate. It is our emotional reaction to life and its stresses that determine how our bodies feel and function. Quiet your mind to heal your body. I truly believe that with a calm, relaxed mind the body can rest to gain the strength to properly assist in the healing process. This is the balance our bodies absolutely need. With this in mind, if I had to label it, I would have to say I specialize in relaxation therapy or deep Swedish massage! Although, I do have experience working deep tissue and specific area treatments. I look forward to helping you to relax, rejuvenate, refresh and, most of all, to help you heal. LA#3763
Whitney Sanchez, LMT I was born in Matthews, LA at St. Anne General Hospital and raised in Lafayette, LA. I attended private school until my senior year at Central Lafourche High School, where I graduated. I then attended Blue Cliff college in Metarie, LA where I graduated in 2004 after completing 720 hours of study. After graduation, I spent two years working as a therapist in New Orleans, LA, but now I'm here at AHA! My philosophy regarding massage therapy is that if there's a problem. . .I HAVE to fix it. There is a logical explanation for any problem as well as a logical solution. I love what I do, and I do what I love! I'll save the complicated terminology for when you come to visit me! I look forward to making you feel better.
Hi, my name is Elrena Fanguy. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist. I graduated in 2007 from Blue Cliff College in Houma, La. where I studied 600 hours of Massage Therapy. I am licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Massage Therapy and certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. I am an active member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
I've worked in the medical field for over 25 years. I started as a certified nursing assistant for a local Hospice. Then went on to discover the world as office manager and technician at a Chiropractic clinic, a Physical Therapy clinic, doctor's assistant, financial rep. at a hospital and finally, administrator for a very busy medical surgical practice.
Yes I've had my stresses! I needed to learn how to relax and fast!
I decided to persue massage therapy because I knew that in order to get my client to relax, I had to relax. I liked that idea very much.
For years I've watched doctors in amazement as they healed with instruments, medication, surgery, etc. I never in a million years thought I would be healing people with my hands.
The art of massage intriques me as like taking a lump of clay and molding it into a beautiful vase. I believe my specialty would have to be deep tissue body sculpting.
Im trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pre-natal, Cancer Massage, Sports Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Hot Stone Massage, and Stretching Exercises.
I've recently incorporated into my massage practice Cancer Massage. With my background in Hospice care I am aware of both the physical and emotional pain that is experience by the cancer patient. I've been certified to address these issues through a certification workshop taught by Susan B. Salvo, Author, Educator and Massage Therapist.
In closing, I would be honored to address the issues and concerns you may have reguarding Massage Therapy. I look forward to working with you.
Hello! My name is Liz Whitney Robichaux.I am a licensed massage therapist and a registered nurse. Born and raised on the bayou, I lived in Houma most of my life. In 2001, I graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelors of Science in Health Science. In 2004, I graduated from Blue Cliff College withcertification in massage therapy.I worked as a licensed massage therapist in New Orleans at several upscale hotels including Windsor Court and Loews. While in New Orleans, I studied Thai massage with Stephanie Shrum (for more information, go to co-creativehealing.com) in which I received my certification in Basic Thai Massage. Over the years, I have taken several advanced courses with Stephanie to enhance my skills. This modality changed my practice. It combines the principles of Ayurveda and Yoga with massage. It is often called “lazy man’s yoga” because it is like yoga being done to you. After Hurricane Katrina, I moved back to Houma and continued to practice massage. In December of 2008, I graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I took a break from mymassage practice in February of 2009 to concentrate on my new career as a nurse. Within that time period, I truly felt as though something was missing. I find massage therapeutic for my soul.
My style of massage combines many modalities such as trigger point, deep tissue, Thai, myo-fascial release and polarity balancing. My sessions are free of routine and specialized to each individual client. Call today and schedule a session, let the healing begin.
